Just off the cobbled lanes of Brighton lies The Clock Tower Sanctuary. A warm, friendly and safe place for young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or facing homelessness. FareShare Sussex works with The Clock Tower Sanctuary to ensure that their service users have access to a healthy, hearty and wholesome meal.
“FareShare’s wide range of foods coming helps us cater for various diets”
The Clock Tower Sanctuary offers services and support to 20-25 people daily, where the young people can make meals together. They also provide showers, a laundry room, and access to computers, music and games.
The services provided by The Clock Tower Sanctuary include; counselling, life skills workshops, CV and job search, housing and welfare advice, social activities and outings. All of these services are vital for the development of young people to help them get back on their feet. Our work with The Clock Tower Sanctuary helps them keep their costs down so that they can provide these vital services.
Fresh produce leaves room for imagination and creativity; one previous service user has been able to set up their own catering firm, which is still in its early days. We are thrilled to know how our relationship with The Clock Tower Sanctuary has prepared young people to progress into the world of work.
“If we did not have the stuff from FareShare they won’t be able to cook, sit and eat. It opens room for a chat.”- Alice
The activity of cooking helps clients to feel comfortable enough to discuss problems or concerns that they have that the The Clock Sanctuary could be able to help them with.
“The fresh stuff appeals (to the clients) the most”
The Clock Tower Sanctuary teaches young people how to eat healthy, be independent and budget through their Life Wise workshops. FareShare Sussex’s food deliveries gives The Clock Tower Sanctuary the chance to show young people how to cook healthy, budgeted meals for themselves.
FareShare is proud to support this brilliant project. Read more about our intern Amie’s visit to The Clock Tower Sanctuary.
