We’re excited to announce that Brighton’s multi award-winning zero waste restaurant Silo has started 2018 with a new charity partnership with FareShare Sussex.
The UK’s first zero waste restaurant in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine will be supporting us through events and fundraising throughout the year.
FareShare Sussex relies on the support of the community to keep up our work, and we are very excited about working together with such a brilliant local business that shares our passion for a fairer food system.
The partnership has kicked off with a discretionary £1 donation to Silo’s food bills to give their customers the opportunity to support our work when they visit the restaurant.
In addition, Silo has pledged to support FareShare Sussex across the year with other initiatives including a fundraising event in spring to celebrate our 15 year anniversary – watch this space for more details!
Silo’s chef and owner, Douglas McMaster has said:
“Tackling food waste is a two sided coin. Silo’s is a model that prevents waste from the outset, and FareShare ensure the surplus created by the wider food industry does not end up in the bin. We’re extremely grateful to partner with FareShare Sussex, knowing that we can see both sides to better understand the bigger picture. Our partnership will serve as a reminder of why we do what we do.”
Rachel Carless, Development Manager at FareShare Sussex said:
“We are thrilled to be a charity partner of Silo, who has already done so much to promote and inspire zero waste practices in our city and beyond. The prospect of being able to share our message to Silo’s ethically minded customers is extremely exciting for us; every one pound donated enables us to deliver enough food for five meals to people in our community in food poverty.”
So if you love eating out at innovative, ethical restaurants and want to do your bit to support our work, book at table at Silo today!
If your business or organisation would like to discuss partnering with us, we’d love to hear from you. Call Rachel on 01273 671 111 to find out more.
