Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering.

We currently have an extremely long waiting list and are not recruiting new volunteers (apart from e-cargo bike volunteers – July 2021). Therefore, if you apply, you may not be invited for an induction for 3 months or so.

However there are lots of other ways to support us like holding a fundraiser, making a donation or helping to raise awareness of our work.

Volunteers are the heart of FareShare Sussex and they keep the project thriving. We are always looking for more enthusiastic people to get involved. You could drive the vans, assist on deliveries, sort food or maintain the warehouse. We also sometimes have office  and events roles available, and we are always looking for people interested in fundraising for us too.

If you are looking to build your confidence and your work skills, meet and socialise with a great mix of people and support the fight against food waste and poverty in your city, why not come and work with us?

E-cargo bike volunteer

The role of e-cargo bike volunteer is part of a new project funded by WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme), with the aim of expanding our operation to reach smaller suppliers and projects using green transport.
As an e-cargo bike volunteer, you will be using our new cargo bike to collect and deliver surplus food from new suppliers and projects in Brighton and Hove.

To register your interest please email  – volunteering@faresharesussex.org.uk and register as a ‘Warehouse’ volunteer by clicking ‘APPLY NOW’ below.

If you are interested in volunteering with us please click below where you will be redirected to the Fareshare UK website and choose ‘Sussex Brighton’ from the location drop down menu. Please apply for just one role and talk to us about different roles once you’re here.

APPLY NOW

If you would like a paper application please either: email  josie@faresharesussex.org.uk  or phone us on 01273 671111

For warehouse based volunteers, we ask for a commitment of at least one shift per week for a minimum of 3 months. For all volunteers, it requires an ability to follow procedures and a commitment to equal opportunities and adherence to FareShare’s policies.

Download our volunteer handbook below which gives you a flavour of the different roles available and how it all works. A full version will be provided once you are signed up.

FareShare Futures was really useful. I learned to make a CV and Laura the project co-ordinator helped me a lot Freya
This has really been a godsend during lockdown, being able to do something physical and interacting with people Lindsay
