“I joined FareShare Sussex last month as Chief Executive Officer and I am thrilled to be part of this wonderful team of staff and volunteers. I have watched from afar, the work and reach of this charity grow dramatically over the years – only in 2021/2022 provided food for 2.6 million food parcels and prevented the waste of 1090 tonnes of good-to-eat surplus in Sussex and Surrey.
I am excited to now get to play a part in this next season of growth and development. I want to help us together increase our reach, helping more people whilst lightening our footprint on the planet. I am well aware that this is a critical time for FareShare Sussex as we work to help more people than ever. According to the Food Foundation, research has revealed a staggering 9.9 million people in the UK experienced food insecurity in April 2022 – up by 3.2 million since January alone. This is utterly shocking and unacceptable.
Together our efforts will continue to make a measurable impact on two of the biggest issues of the day, supporting those wrestling with poverty, daily facing hunger and caring for the environment in a better and more sustainable way. “
