Looking for your next challenge?IMG_3784

Would you like to use your skills, knowledge or expertise to contribute to the success of FareShare Sussex?

We are looking for enthusiastic supporters to join FareShare Sussex’s steering group or become trustees for its governing charity, City Gate Community Projects.

Mission: FareShare Sussex has the joint aims of alleviating poverty, reducing food waste and supporting volunteers. It offers a practical solution to the problems of poverty and food waste, whilst offering a route back into work or training for disadvantaged adults through its volunteer programme.

What we do: FareShare Sussex redistributes surplus food from the food industry to organisations working with homeless and vulnerable people in the community. We support a range of vulnerable client groups including the homeless, unemployed, and substance mis-users, through organisations such as drop-in centres, food banks and hostels. This food provides a nutritious meal to vulnerable people where it may not have been offered without our service.

Organisation: FareShare Sussex (previously FareShare Brighton & Hove) is a social franchise as part of the National FareShare network, one of its 20 regional centres. It is overseen by registered charity City Gate Community Projects, of which FareShare is its main project.  It is governed by a Board of Trustees and directed by a steering group.

Board of Trustees: We are looking for trustees to join City Gate Community Projects’ Board. City Gate Community Projects is the registered charity that governs FareShare Sussex, founded in 2002 by members of City Gate Church. The charity is a practical expression of:

  • Giving
  • Working in, with, and for our communities.
  • Serving those who are vulnerable, marginalised and in need.

Sympathy with these values is sought in prospective new Trustees.

Steering group: The steering group supports the strategic decision-making solely of the FareShare Sussex project. We are looking for new members who are passionate about FareShare’s mission, and can help sustain its activities and support its development.

What we are looking for: We welcome expressions of interest from any with enthusiasm for the project, whilst expertise in the following would be particularly welcome.

  • Business development
  • Fundraising
  • Marketing/PR
  • Finance
  • Partnership working

Talk to us today: Get in touch with Project Manager, Marion Sheehan on 01273 671 111 or email to express an interest.
