The Big Give’s Green Match Fund campaign is now open. All donations made this week will be doubled until we reach our target of £5000.
Last year, 1000 tonnes of the food we provided was surplus from the food industry, meaning although it was still perfectly good to eat, it would have otherwise gone to waste. At a time where almost a third of children in the UK are living below the breadline, we think this is unacceptable and won’t stop on our mission to tackle hunger and food waste across Sussex and Surrey.
We estimate that the food we redirected to hungry people just last year saved 2900 tonnes of harmful CO2 emissions, the equivalent of running 1000 cars for one year.
We think we can do better.
This year we want to prevent more food from unnecessarily going to waste. We want to reach more people in need and in new communities across Sussex and Surrey. We want to continue to assess the use of electric vehicles to reduce our own carbon emissions when delivering surplus food.
Please consider donating to the Green Fund this week, it is a great opportunity to make a small donation go twice as far. Share with your friends, family and social networks to help us spread the word.
Thank you so much for your incredible support.
