Hi there, my name is Laura, and I’ve had the pleasure of being Training Co-ordinator at FareShare Sussex for the last year.

As Training Coordinator my role focuses on FareShare’s mission to improve the lives of our volunteers by empowering them to progress. I create, deliver and organise training to make sure that all our volunteers are not only working to the highest safety standards but are also given the opportunity to progress into paid employment in the sector, if that’s something that they are interested in. I’m passionate about helping people to succeed.

My role forms a big part of our involvement with the FLAVOUR project, a multi-organisation, multinational project that is tackling the issues of food waste and poverty alongside creating pathways to employment and supporting people living in food insecurity.

I certainly like to keep busy, and over the course of the last year I’ve also been known to try my hand at stepping into the role of interim Volunteer Coordinator, place orders for our charity members, cook a few lunches, drive the odd van, and get involved with social media and personal fundraising.  My favourite thing about working here (apart from the stellar volunteer and staff team) is the fact that you just never know what’s coming next…

My interesting ice-breaker would be that I have lived on five different continents, as well as on a canal boat in London for a few years. In 2018 I moved to Lewes and now enjoy living with the South Downs on my doorstep.
