Take part in the 2.6 Challenge for FareShare Sussex

Coronavirus has changed all our lives, we’re missing seeing family and friends and we’re spending a lot more time at home. It has also had a devastating effect on charities across the country, with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in fundraising income.

Here at FareShare Sussex the demand for us to distribute surplus and donated food is greater than ever – and we are determined to ensure that the most vulnerable people in our community are not left hungry at home.

Now, more than ever, we need your help!

We’re inviting you, your family and friends to take part in The 2.6 Challenge and do something amazing to raise money for FareShare Sussex. Together we will provide a lifeline to those most at risk.

The 2.6 Challenge launches on Sunday 26 April, what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon, the world’s biggest one-day annual fundraising event. People of all ages from around the country are thinking up a whole host of challenges based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and raising money for charities close to their heart.

We need you to get creative! We’re asking our supporters to dream up a brilliant challenge based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 – any activity you like – then fundraise or donate to support FareShare Sussex. Most people are taking part from Sunday 26 April but you can do your activity whenever is most convenient for you.

Your 2.6 Challenge can be any activity you like.. Feeling energetic? How about walking, running or cycling 2.6 miles, or holding an online workout with 26 friends? Want to learn a new skill? Can you juggle for 2.6 minutes, learn to count to 26 in a new language, or create 26 sketches.

Why not take on a food-based challenge for FareShare? Maybe host a virtual supper club for 26 friends. You could open a home restaurant and charge family members a £2.60 donation per meal. Or even host a baking competition with a difference – it’s all about beauty! The entries for your virtual bake off will be all about presentation rather than taste. Challenge 26 wannabe bakers to create their own showstoppers (charging them to enter) and then judge photographs of their entries safe in the knowledge you won’t actually have to taste any of their soggy-bottomed monstrosities.

The ideas and options are endless. The only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.
